PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENTS

PATROL/INVESTIGATIONS:

The Beverly Hills Department of Public Safety currently consists of six full-time public safety officers and three reserve officers.

Public Safety Officers enforce traffic laws, city ordinances and state laws; respond to fire and medical emergencies, investigate accidents and crime reports, patrol residential and business districts and follow up investigations on reports they receive.

Corporal Thomas Schmidt directs the patrol/investigation division. This department provides 24 hours of fire and police protection. Due to a shortage in personnel each officer currently is working eight-hour shifts, which however, when at full staff will change to ten-hour shifts with each officer working four days on, and three days off. Reserve Officers help in special events, emergencies and traffic control when needed. They are paid $6.00 per hour when requested to assist.

COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION:

The Communications Division in the Public Safety Department consists of four full-time and one part-time position:

Roxanne Maldanado Dispatcher
Jeff Gammel Dispatcher
Bobbie Jones Dispatcher
Judy Higgins Dispatcher

All dispatchers are trained in police/fire communications, 9-1-1, radio operations and procedures and certified in TCIC/NCIC (Texas Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center) computer systems. We are manned 24 hours a day to accept emergency and non-emergency contacts for the community.

Chad Fillips directs and supervises Communications and also fulfills the role of Records Management. He receives and processes all criminal/accident reports and responds to open records requests.
