The mission of the Municipal Court is to provide a neutral, courteous, and fair forum for the trial of all Class C misdemeanor offenses arising under Texas civil and criminal statutes and city ordinances. The judge of this Court is appointed by the City Council of the City of Beverly Hills to preserve, protect, and defend the United States Constitution, the Texas Constitution and the laws of the State of Texas.
Samantha Jones was appointed by the city council as the municipal court administrator on August 2, 2006.
Her position administers the non-judicial operations of the court including direct supervision of non-judicial personnel; court-related budget management; and coordination of the Court's daily administrative affairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:
Develop long-range goals and objectives to improve the
court operations. This position conducts ongoing studies
to determine and identify needs, organization, systems,
and procedures to increase the effectiveness of the
Court's administration. This position reports findings
and recommendations for implementation. Recruits, trains
and supervises non-judicial Court personnel. Administers
personnel policies and procedures as applicable to non-judicial
employees. Develops, recommends, and administers the
annual budgets for the Court. This includes monitoring
revenues and approval of expenditures, and development
of the capital development budget reflecting long-term
equipment and automation needs of the Court. Serves
as liaison between the Presiding Judge, City Attorney/City
Prosecutor, local government offices and the public.
Serves as representative of the Court in non-policy public information programs, press releases, and other related media events.
Monitors current, newly adopted, and proposed legislation that may affect the Courts.
